MY SERVICES
Hello and welcome to my website. My name is Neil and I provide a range of guitar-based services across Manchester and throughout the north west.
I have been I have been playing guitar for 35 years (after my dad bought me a cheese slicer masquerading as.a cheap acoustic) and since that day the guitar has always been my passion. Working full-time always got in the way of my practise so I decided to make my passion my job - it certainly beats working. I provide the following services:
Tuition
Based in Urmston, Manchester I service the surrounding areas (primarily Urmston, Trafford, Stretford and Chorlton) with lessons taking place in my garden office. I can also come to visit you depending on your circumstances. I have a relaxed and friendly manner and possess a valid DBS. I have a wealth of experience to share and all my lessons are individually tailored to your needs - I won’t make you study anything you don’t want to. I once had a tutor who insisted on forcing me into the deep end of music theory when all I wanted to do was play along to AC/DC. I quickly gave up the lessons but always remembered that as an example of how not to teach.
After a short free consultation I will draw up an individual lesson plan and we will then get to work with helping you achieve your goals. My lessons are fun but are not aimless - I want to see you improve but will tailor the lessons so that we learn at your pace. Please see my tuition page here for details.
Performance
I play rhythm and lead guitar, bass guitar, mandolin, harmonica and sing. The performance element of my work consists of a few key areas. Please see my performance page for more details.
In brief:
I currently play guitar and provide backing and some lead vocals in a high quality trio called Tres Hombres UK. We perform covers you know and want to hear across Manchester and the north west. I am available for weddings and events as a solo fingerstyle acoustic instrumentalist. This is really my first love as I grew up playing unaccompanied fingerstyle (you're never bored if you can learn this). If you are looking for a quality finger style acoustic player to lovely and unobtrusive background music for your special day I am available. I also perform solo in residential care and nursing homes. I really enjoy this part of my work as it allows me to make a difference to people and brighten up their day. Half of my family ended up in residential care so I'm fully aware of the challenges that both residents and staff face. Please see here for more details.
I also provide a stand-in 'depping' service for your wedding / function / covers outfit. I am reliable and professional and can help you fulfil your commitments if your guitarist, bassist or mandolin player is unavailable. I also provide good quality backing vocals. I am currently looking for a high quality function, wedding or tribute band for Saturday night gigs. Please have a look at my live videos and drop me a message if you are interested. I would also be interested in duo work for weddings and other events. I'm not looking to join another pub/bar band (great fun though it is).
